FAQ

Is Odyssey a plugin for Unreal Engine?

Odyssey is a whole stand-alone software based on Unreal Engine. If you are familiar with computer development, Odyssey is kind of a fork from Unreal Engine source code, meaning you don't have to install Unreal Engine to use Odyssey. Odyssey comes with its own licensing system (thanks to a custom launcher) and even have its own Project Browser, with specific templates designed for the animation industry.

How can I learn Odyssey? Do I need to already know Unreal Engine?

Odyssey is designed for 2D artists. At Praxinos, we put a lot of effort to make sure the tool can be used even if you have never used Unreal Engine or any other 3d software. To help you learn, you can find a user guide, a Youtube channel with video tutorials, a Discord server, and a contact form. We also provide trainings to schools, studios and learning centers.

How much is the tech support for Odyssey?

Technical support is included in all purchased or leased licenses. You are warmly invited to contact us (Discord, email) if you experience any issue with Odyssey or if you simply want to submit an idea to improve the tool. Custom development and/or reinforced support which require a significative work from our team may be quoted. Contact us beforehand for more information.

Can I install my license on multiple computers?

If you own a single-user license, you will have to deactivate your license ticket from the launcher of your old computer before using it on the new computer. If you have network licenses, the number installation on client machines is unlimited. However, there will be a maximum number of simultaneous connections authorised, depending on the order placed.

What is the minimum configuration to use Odyssey?

Odyssey is a 2d animation software based on Unreal Engine. It requires a computer with a good GPU, CPU and 32GB of memory to use a 3d environment (16gb is enough for 2d only). Regarding operating systems, there is only a version for Windows at the moment. The version for MacOS is under development and should be released soon. Is my student license limited?

Student licenses are not limited in time or in features: you can still use your license after your studies, for personal work. Note that, according to the EULA, you must add a logo Unreal Engine and Odyssey in your final work made with a student license.
